18 Months Stats

Mark and I took Nora for her 18 month appointment on Friday morning. We still can't believe that she is getting to be such a big girl. I think that we are still shocked sometimes that we have a baby and then realize that 18 months have flown by since she arrived. She is such a blessing in our lives. I can't even begin to put it into words.

Here are her stats:
Weight 27 pounds - 80%
Height 34.5 inches - Over 97% (shocking, right?!?)
Head 47.1 - 70% (thank goodness that one is not off the charts!)

Nora is such a joy and blessing to be around. Although she has her moments and sometimes the whining gets on our nerves, she really is a bright, happy baby. She is currently obsessed with the following:
Having to have her shoes on at all times
Must have a bow in her hair during all waking hours
Being chased
Organizing/Re-organizing everything under the sinks in our master bathroom
Opening and closing doors (she's only caught her fingers once)
Organizing her crayons
Carrying at least 1 - 2 purses almost everywhere, including the doctor's office last week
Making her cute face (this includes squinting her eyes and being very silly. I need to catch that one on our camera!)
Reading books constantly (I think that I read Go Dog, Go! about 10 times one day)
Giving kisses only on her terms and timeline

Nora has also starting saying more words, with the newest being shoes, apple and book. So very cute! I can only imagine what the future will bring!

Halloween & Mom's Visit

We finished off the month of October just like we began it - very busy! Mom flew in town with Ginger to see their Dallas grandkiddos the Wednesday before Halloween. It seems like they both had a great time - we hope so! Mom and I had a great time running all over town shopping and have lunch out. What fun treats - thanks Mom! How wonderful to be spoiled for a week! We also got in lots of holiday baking and cooking stuff to stick in the freezer. How great is that?!?

Moving onto the great orange holiday - Nora celebrated Orange Day at school. They had orange treats all day and Nora wore her cutie pie pumpkin shirt that Grandma embroidered for her. Very cute, as always!

On Friday night, we headed for a fun Halloween themed evening at Lori and Cam's house. We had a great time and so did Mom. She just loved how all of the daddy's were very hands on and that everyone had such a great time together, in the midst of the chaos! Nora debuted her first bee costume - thanks Lori for letting us borrow it!

On Saturday, we went to the Dallas Arboretum for a fun outing. We started a tradition of going during the Halloween season last year and wanted to be sure to continue our new family tradition! We had a great time. The weather could not have been more perfect! We then headed for burgers at Who's Who in Highland Park Village. Can I just say - Yum! We love that place, but just don't go there often enough...

Halloween night was topped off with a party at Bill and Lisa's house. It was fun, as always! Everyone had dinner and then headed out for Trick or Treating. Nora was super cute! She caught on really quickly! Nora sported her second bee costume of the season. Lisa was so sweet to get her a costume to match the twins. So, Nora, Izzy and Sloane were bees, Will was the bee keeper and Lisa was the queen bee. How great is that?!?

Hope your holiday was wonderful as well!

P.S. Thanks Grammy and Buddy for Nora's previous Halloween gifts. She is completely obsessed with that precious bag and is currently using it as yet another purse! She loved all of her other Halloween goodies as well. Thanks for spoiling our girl!

Fundraiser Weekend

For months I have been working on the American Girl Fashion Show as a fundraiser for my Junior League. It was fun, fulfilling, tiring and stressful at times, but we got it done! Just wish I had some pictures to post from it. I knew that I forgot something! Oh well... Trust me, it was cute! Anyway, while I was finishing the last two shows of the weekend on Sunday and tearing down the event (thank goodness margaritas topped off the evening!), Mark was having a good time himself. My cousins generously gave us their four season tickets to the Cowboys game. Mark had a great time taking in the game with some of the guys. Thanks Gayla and Jordan for taking such good care of Miss Nora. She had a great time playing with y'all. Sorry about that non-sleeping part Gayla! We owe you big! First you watch our baby all day and to top if off, my husband takes yours to the game...

Jay, Mark (Jordan's daddy) and Team Riss co-captain, Jeff

Jay and the Marks...

The view from their seats - pretty sweet!

Had to take a picture of that big screen that is the talk of the town and all football fans...

This is the update that Gayla sent me about Miss New:
Nora was very good today! She was patient with Jordan, ate GREAT (much better than Jordan), used her words, and her pointer finger. She loves me so much that she could not bear to take a nap and be away from me! :) I brought the pacies out at 7:10pm for both girls. They were tired and ready for night, night, but I thought 7:10 was too early! They sat and read books with me for a long time w/ their pacis. Both girls really like to work on "dog" and "woof, woof", plus pointing to ears, toes, head, etc. This was really fun with them.

I took them on a long walk, well, we didn't walk that far, but they were outside playing with leaves on the ground and acorns. They enjoyed this.

How sweet is that? Thanks again Gayla for watching our sweet girl. Let us know when you and Mark are going to drop Jordan off!

Snack time at Jordan's house!

Yummy!

18 Months Old!

Nora turned 18 months old today. I can't believe how quickly the time has passed. Everyone told me to treasure every moment when I was pregnant and I have definitely learned over the past 18 months that time does surely fly! We've had a fun, but crazy busy few weeks. I'll update the blog soon. In the meantime, here's a picture of our big 18-month old sweet girl!
