If You Need a Little Inspiration

Every time I read my cousin's blog about their calling in Africa, I feel inspired to be a better Christian and to do more for others. If you need a little inspiration in your life, I encourage you to read their latest post:

Just another reason to love Prince of Peace!

So, Nora's ear infection has turned into a double ear infection. Poor baby! It has made for some eventful evenings ... or should I say, early mornings? I took her back to the doctor yesterday afternoon and she ended up getting two antibiotic shots and has to go back today for two more. Thank goodness Mark is taking Nora today since I had to hold her down yesterday. That is the absolute worst thing that you have to do as a parent! Plus, we were minus a paci. Not good...

Needless to say, Nora is home from school - this time hanging out with Grammy and Buddy who arrived from Chattanooga yesterday. Yippee!!! Perfect timing for helping us out and getting to love and snuggle with that baby girl.

OK, OK, onto the point of my blog - so, not only did Nora's teacher call the house to check on Nora, but she also sent me an email. How sweet is that? We just love Nora's school and everyone there. What a blessing for our family!

Bound to Happen

I guess it was bound to happen, since Nora is 9 1/2 months old ... she has her first ear infection. Poor little girl. One of the teachers from Prince of Peace called to let us know that she was running a fever yesterday. By the time I got to school to pick her up and take her to the doctor's office it was 102 degrees. She was so hot and tired - she just wanted to be held. Thank goodness we were able to get an appointment right away and get some medicine in that baby girl. After we saw Dr. Berkowitz (who I loved BTW), we dropped off the prescription and headed home for a nap. Nora was so sweet and just wanted to be held by Momma - No problem for me! We had a nice little nap on the sofa until Mark got home.

Nora needs to stay home from school the next few days, so Mark and I are taking shifts. I am working from home this morning (oh - and blogging and oh yeah - I suddenly had time to get on my treadmill) and Mark is taking the afternoon shift so that I can be at my afternoon meetings. Miss Nora is sleeping away and hopefully getting better.

Here's some recent pics of our looooooooong girl...

The Best Valentine's Day Ever!

I had the best Valentine's Day present ever on Saturday - Nora said Mama for the first time. It was so sweet that I started crying - heck I am tearing up just thinking about it. It was so sweet and she kept saying it all day. I'm not totally sure that she associates me with mama necessarily (since she said it to everything and Mark too!), but it still made my day! Oh - the joys of being a first-time Momma!

We had a great time at our Sunday School Valentine's Party on Sunday night. I don't know now Sarah and Angela do it all. I'm so impressed with those working mommas - they seem to be able to do it all! We actually remembered to take our camera to the party to snap some great pics ... and then it sat on the floor all evening. Guess I was more into visiting with friends and drinking some wine than taking pictures. Oh well. C'est la vie!or maybe more appropriately, C'est la vino!

Mark planned a yummy dinner for us on Saturday night. It was so nice to not have to cook! Plus, he even remember to bring me tulips! Guess he was trying to make up for us scoring an "F" on the "Not So Newlywed Game" we played Friday night! Too funny!

Nora's 9 Month Stats

Mark and I took Miss New (yet another nickname that we have for Nora) to see Dr. Wong last Thursday for her 9 month check up and shots (boo!). She actually did great, especially after having to wait forever to see the doctor. She was so worn out from playing with us that she fell asleep on me - which I totally ate up. Nothing better than a sweet baby, stripped down to her diaper, snuggled up with momma!

We definitely have a healthy baby girl! Here are her latest stats:
Weight: 20 lbs. (90%)
Height: 29" (91%)
Head: 45 cm (80%)

40 and Fabulous!

Saturday night we had a great time celebrating my cousin Lisa's 40th birthday! Lisa always knows how to throw a fabulous party and this time, I believe that she outdid herself, I mean Bill - the official party thrower - outdid himself! It was at this new Indian restaurant restaurant downtown and lots of people really got into the Indian theme. Women wore these beautiful saris, had on gorgeous jewelry and were dazzling! Check out this fun picture of Bill and the birthday girl! I would definitely say 40 and Fabulous! Happy Birthday Lisa! Thanks for including us!

9 Months Old!

I can't believe that I am actually going to be on time with this monthly post - today Miss Nora is 9 months old! I cannot believe how time has flown! She is such a big girl and just brings so much joy to our lives. What a blessing she truly is! God knew exactly what he was doing when he created this child - stubbornness and all!

We are going to the doctor for Nora's 9 month check up later this week, so I'll post updated stats then. In the meantime, I can tell you that Nora thinks she is such a big girl. I guess she believes that she has the whole crawling thing mastered, so she's moved onto pulling herself up on everything and anything. This weekend she became super brave and would let go of whatever she was holding onto and just look at us and smile. We fear that she will be walking before we know it. She does not seem to realize that Mommy wants her to stay a baby ... forever!

Here are a couple of cute shots of Nora using the new walker that Grammy and Buddy gave her for Christmas. Maybe we can blame the early walking on them! Just kidding, Grammy! She is also sporting her cutie-pie Baby Gap jeans outfit that our sweet neighbor, Miss Joan gave her for Christmas.
