Memorial Day Weekend

Mark, Nora and I had a fun and very relaxing Memorial Day weekend. We headed over to Bill and Lisa's lake house at Possum Kingdom Lake (don't you just love that name?) on Friday afternoon and spent the entire weekend just chilling out. We always sleep so good down there - guess it's all of the fresh air - and this trip was no different! We played in the water, took naps (at least Nora and I did), grilled out, played with that sweet girl (who was cracking us up - Little Miss Personality), and got a little bit of sun.

We took Nora down to the public beach area one afternoon. It was perfect for her! She looked super cute in the little halter swimsuit that Grammy gave her for her birthday. She wasn't crazy about wearing a life jacket (imagine that!), but got acclimated to it after a while. Mark and I couldn't get over how fearless our little girl really is! She just kept waking into the water as if she had been doing it forever. Crazy! She was a little scared of the big waves, but overall did great! We were some proud parents, to say the least. We can't wait to take her to the neighborhood pool this weekend and then get her in some swim lessons.

Last Weekend

We're back to being at least one week behind on our posts (not including Easter entry - oh yes, that one is still MIA). Last weekend we had a great time with Grandma still visiting! Yippee!!! We headed to Will's pirate party on Saturday, where Nora ate tons of strawberries and had fun playing in the ultimate bounce house for the first time! We had a nice Mother's Day (hard to believe that it was my second!) at church and a fun lunch at MiCocina. We were going to head to the Arboretum that afternoon, but Miss Nora had other ideas. She took a long nap, so we ended up walking around the Arbor Hills park instead. It's so beautiful out there!

We were complete slackers about getting pictures of Nora with all of the grandparents this trip, but we did get some fun pictures at the Pirate party.

Happy Belated Birthday, Sweet Nephews

Two of our sweet nephews, Luke (4) and Aaron (1) celebrated their birthdays right around the same time that Miss Nora was partying. Stephanie sent me these cute pictures and I just had to post them. How cute are these boys?!?

Nora's Birthday Party

We celebrated Nora's first birthday with a fun birthday party. It was a family event - with everyone pitching in, including Grandma, Grammy and Buddy. We carried through the cupcake theme from the invitation with our cupcake buffet - yum! Thank goodness the rain held off so that all of the kiddos could run and play outside in the yard. They even gave Nora's new Barbie ATV a few spins around the yard and the house. We had such a fun time! We feel so blessed to be surrounded by such great friends and family. Nora's First Birthday Party

Happy First Birthday, Nora Caroline!

One year and 18 minutes ago, Miss Nora Caroline Newman made her entrance into this world. Our lives have never been the same since and we can't wait to see what is in store for the future!

Last night, before Mark and I went to sleep, we were talking about the night before Nora was born and trying to remember all of our excitement, nervousness, anxiousness and anticipation to see our sweet baby girl. We still are in awe that God blessed us with this sweet angel. Nora is our answer to so many prayers.

We've been busy today getting ready for her big party tomorrow with the help of all of the grandparents who came in to celebrate. We can't even begin to imagine what's in store for us over the next year and beyond!
