15 Months Old

We can hardly believe that Miss Nora New is 15 months old! That is craziness! Mark and I were looking at pictures of my preggo belly last week and were talking about how amazing it is that we got this perfect little girl from that big 'ole belly . Isn't God just great that way? He has blessed us in more ways that we count ever count! Now to just get rid of that belly!

So, at 15 months old, Nora thinks that she is quite a big girl, but still likes being loved on like she's a little baby. I think that if we just carried her around the house on some days, she would be perfectly content.

I thought that I would list some of the fun and silly things that Nora is doing:
  • When we pick her up from school each day, she gets really excited to see whoever it is picking her up, but she then bypasses either Mark or me, goes straight to her cubby and gets her purse to take home. She is then on her way out the door. Hysterical!
  • Speaking of the purse, lets just say, Nora is a bit obsessed with it. While most kiddos have a blanket or a stuffed animal that they are attached to, our child finds comfort in plastic pacies and her purse. Go figure.
  • Although we work with her constantly on words and reading, her favorite (and only) words continue to be Mama and Dada. The teachers at school keep telling me that I need to chill out about her talking, but I still pull the flashcards out!
  • The girl loves, loves veggies, fruit and cheese - that is all that she would eat if I would let her get away with it. I keep trying to find creative ways to get some meat and actually succeeded tonight! She's pretty good with chicken, fish and seafood, if she is so inclined at the moment...
  • Books are still Nora's favorite thing. She grabs them one by one every night so that she can sit in our laps and have us read them to her.
  • Nora loves school and gets excited and squeals when we pull up to her school each morning. How great does that make you feel as a working parent? Love Prince of Peace!
  • Nora is a huge helper - she loves to put laundry into the dryer and close the door. This skill also comes in handy when "helping" in the pantry and refrigerator as well. She also really likes to help fold the laundry or her version of helping - pulling items out of the hamper, dragging them around the house and leaving them in random places...
  • She has mastered getting up and down off of the sofa. She thinks that she is very big when she does this new skill! I found her on the sofa this morning lounging a bit.
  • Nora thinks that she can swim. She is completely fearless and thinks that she can just take off - this is a good and a bad thing...
  • We are trying to only give Nora a pacie at nap time or night night time. We're actually doing really well with that, amazingly. When she is ready to get out of her crib after sleeping, Mark has taught her to put her pacies back in the crib. This is now a fun game that we play everyday that still makes her smile. If pacies have for some reason been knocked (aka thrown) out of the her crib, she has to get down, pick them up and toss them back in. Super cute!
  • The girl is getting better about her baby sign language. We have been working with her and they do a really good job at school with it too. It is definitely helping our communication with our little beggar!
  • Nora loves when Mark lets her get in our bed, jump up and down and hide in the pillows.
  • She has really started to dance, even in the car, when she hears music. Very cute!
  • Bath time is really fun for Nora now. She has gone through lots of stages with the bath and we are now where we need to be. Yippee! I got her some cute Sesame Street bath toys last week and she absolutely loves them.
  • I still think the thing that makes Nora belly laugh the absolute most is doing Mark's infamous Round the Corner with her. They have done this since she was a baby and she still thinks that it is so incredibly funny to poke her head around the corner, while Daddy is holding her, so that she can get Mama. It melts my heart every time!
